Reading yesterdays Sydney Morning Herald , "wild days over for Kings Cross"

Apparently more nightclubs have closed including last week the famous "hugos pizza and nightclub"

The Fishbowl pub in the corner of Darlinghurst Rd has been sold to developers as is the Bourbon and beefsteak ready to be made into apartments.

The State Govt killed the area say shop keepers by introducing the 1am lockout Laws after crime became a problem.

This could mean an oversupply of apartments now .
I tend to stay away from the North of Kings Cross (potts point) but now even property is rising there.
As more of the Strip Clubs close it will become a cafe style part of the City.

Doubt it. Small land area. Highly desirable.

It will mean an oversupply that could flow onto my area of Darlinghurst.
Then again it could be something positive that the Cross is changing.

I live here, and the majority of my neighbours are not late night drinkers.

There is a high demand here from city workers, and others who like the location due to proximity to everything.

There are even several retirees in my building.

If the night life gets less rough, it will just end up being another wealthy eastern suburb, but with the easiest access to the city (2 minutes train to Martin place).

I don't see any oversupply, Elizabeth Bay studios are being snapped up for stupid prices.

Once it loses the seedy image there will be even more residents demanding to live here I think.

Most of the patrons of the post-1am bars travelled into the cross and don't live here. We go out in Darlinghurst for dinner or drinks at least 3 nights a week but we never stay after 1, and we don't hit the strip joints :)

I hear that the late night drinkers have moved to Newtown.

    Many have.

I also heard something: that Newtown pubs will have the same lockouts applied soon enough, meaning the drunkards have to find somewhere else to invade.

Mate of mine picked up a good deal in Kings Cross. Funny things is that the house had six bedrooms, each bedroom had a shower, spa, bed, wall mounted television and mirrors on the ceiling. Must of been a boarding house....
