Does anyone have any recommendations for kids books introducing them to money, saving, investing concepts? For upper primary/early high school kids in an Australian context. The books seem mostly targeted at parents.

    Me I would
Buy them some "shares" with Comm Pocket.
Teach them about the compounding effect.
    Budgeting .
Saving, Why you need them. For emergencies and wants eg holidays etc
Dangers of credit for "wants". How much it really costs.
Not sure books are the best way to teach kids about money

There is a RichDad PoorDad for Kids book ... his adult book was my "aha" moment so might be worth having a look

Don’t need a book. Teach them yourself

Try Richest Man in Babylon. It's not exactly a kids book, but reads like a story, and easy to understand.

It's a great read ... but also reads as fiction so it didn't resonate with me personally

Yeah, it does, but I've found that for some people it's great. Another one is The Wealthy Barber. Again, it reads like a story, is really easy to read and suitable for teens.

We had a Noel Whittaker book that I have given away to older teens. I think it is called Getting it Together. It was published a long time ago - I wonder if he has done an update.

Are you teaching your kids how to run a book? Definitely a skill worth knowing.

Amazon reviews are always a good resource

I'm a big Noel Whittaker fan though; The Beginner's Guide to Wealth: To the Young People of the World here on Google Play for $6.76 (e-book)

    Yes.
Even if they read a book they may not understand it or absorb the concepts.

I took a year of accounting at school, worked two years as a teller in a bank, and still didn't understand the concept of debits and credits until explained in Rich Dad Poor Dad ... for every deposit (wallet, bank account, shop till) they had to be a withdrawal (wallet, bank, shop till)

Unless you're the government, where you simply print the damn stuff
