That's pretty impressive! 117 Govetts leap Rd? Pretty similar house style and land size to mine. How much of a Reno did they do? Even onthehouse was 200k+ off that price which shows, even despite the Reno, how fast it's moving.

Do you think these prices are sustainable/got more room to go?

@Danmicb The reno was nice..but for me not that nice.

I have nooo idea about price sustainability of housing. It seems like Blackheath is having a surge which is leaving behind Leura, Ktown W Falls etc. i dont know how sustainable that is.

yeah, ontheouse is pretty much useless in Blackheath.

Blackheath is apparently now super trendy...
The local residents who have been there 20+ years can't stand it :)
I'm sure they aren't complaining about the home prices though.
Tbh. I'm not real sure what's driving the growth there? There is a few nice cafes and restaurants on that main strip and it has a nice cottage atmosphere. But that's about it? And the more touristy/hipster/trendy it becomes that cottage atmosphere diminishes...

I agree..it seems disproportionate. We want to move there as we have a few friends there and is the epicentre of the climbing community...plus..Leura seems too old, wentworth falls too outer suburbia and Katoomba too umm 'eclectic'

Careful, you're knocking my current hometown there ;)

I've heard good things about the climbing up there.
Maybe that's the driver? Cashed up Climbers? :p

ouch..apologies..actually dont mind wentworth falls around Falls Road...realistically looking at all options again if Blackheath rises too much. Being closer to Sydney is certainly not a disadvantage.

All good. Wenty is lovely and yes a little suburban. We are right near the lake and absolutely love it. I couldn't do blackheath considering I work in Sydney/Ashfield/Parra.
Still its not our forever home. I've already decided that our next move will have a nice view of the escarpment/valleys, etc.

I wish the govt would resume 1 block either side of the whole highway and bulldoze it for a freeway ! See if they like that idea !

PS re property growth, I am not sure why so many here things property price growth is something everyone as a homeowner would be happy about, it just means more costs.

Yep, it's going pretty crazy. Got a nice place at Bullaburra, anything decently comparable is 1m +. Seems to be some nice houses being built which is always a good sign.

Congrats Radson - Leura is beautiful!
I always feel at peace when I'm at the mountains but then the reality of my wife needing to work in the city hits home ;-( One day it will happen.. enjoy

    Great result.
We might be due for another mountains meet up in a couple months.
    You'll have to come along!
Where in Leura did you snap up?

Thanks everyone. you guys are very nice :)

Ill certainly come along to a meeting, although I think my property investment days might be on hiatus for a while...with a house to reno and twins due in September...I expect to be slightly occupied for a while.

Illet let you know BKR, when everything is all official.

Leura is beautiful. We would drive up there for lunch sometimes. Congrats @radson exciting times ahead.

Wentworth Falls is nice too but I'm not sure about Blackheath. ;)

Last 3 months, another 50k growth in my Katoomba property. That's over 200k in two years. And it doesn't appear to be slowing down either, not close. Anyone else been seeing this in other towns in the blue mountains? I know a few months ago blackheath was having a good run.

Bottom end is coming off the boil.

Back to selling in 4 weeks instead of 4 days one agent told me. Also price reductions happening

Does/did it basically follow Syd in other cycles ?

I just checked against an area I know, seems Katoomba moves similar, if tue, yes, would be cooling.

How is Penrith side of mountains as of today ?
