"Design works for a brand new $750,000 adventure playground at The Mill are set to start, with Council today awarding the contract to Playscape Creations.

Mayor Allan Sutherland said this exciting project was about delivering on the promise to ensure that The Mill PDA precinct would be a space for the whole community to own and enjoy.

“This adventure playground will be situated within The Oval precinct - a massive $9 million dollar park that will become an icon of our region,” he said."

"The Oval will become a regional park destination in its own right and be an essential piece of the ‘live, work, play’ philosophy behind the Mill PDA."

“Like New Farm Park it will provide outdoor barbeques, gathering spaces, picnic seating, gardens, outdoor movie opportunities and even an informal cricket pitch in recognition of the area’s historic use."

"The USC Moreton Bay campus, scheduled to open in Petrie this year, is helping to increase interest in the Pine Rivers property market and buyer activity will only increase, according to a local real estate expert.

According to data from Core Logic, more than half of the suburbs in the Pine River Press catchment area saw average growth in property prices in 2019, while everyone except Dakabin has seen an increase in average property prices in the past three years."

A 'local real estate expert' and 'saw average growth'. Is the area actually moving according to those without vested interest?

The above statement does appear to be quite contradictory, and is difficult to accurately interpret.

I read this article (spam) from Domain's facebook. It was very vague and general, basically advertorial for a couple of local agents.

Queensland's newest university campus set to open north of Brisbane

"Queensland's newest university campus is open for O-Week at Petrie, north of Brisbane, and its 1200 inaugural students will attend their first classes from Monday.

There is such pent-up education demand in the fast-growing Moreton Bay region, the University of the Sunshine Coast expects the number of students to triple within three years" (cont.)

Interesting read. I drove past the other week and the whole area looks fantastic. The increase in uni educated in the area will make a big difference when you look at the uplift from 24 -54% particularly over the long term.

Hi guys, I had been having some disappointing feedback around MRBC, specially Kallangur about lack of drivers, growth and job market. We have been banking on University but is it that big driver to make people move to MRBC and increase owner occupier appeal of the area. Do you believe gentrification of this area with increase in wages is possible in near future.
Would love to hear views of people who live there or who are invested there...thanks!
@sash @Angel any feedback from you please.

I feel...the ships for Kallangur has sailed.

A friend got in for a high set..for 285k...I don't think you can get in for that anymore.

It is also lower socio..I much prefer Redcliffe and surrounds.

Kallangur is ok but has too many investors and is not an oo market.... bray park and strathpine are...so continue to see year on year growth. Much better options closer to the water for the same $.

"The Mill at Moreton Bay Priority Development Area (PDA) will facilitate the development of the University of the Sunshine Coast Moreton Bay campus.

It also aims to fast-track transport related development in the existing Petrie Town Centre and land near the Kallangur and Lawnton train stations.

It includes the existing Petrie Town Centre to the west of Petrie Station and land to the south of the new Kallangur station and covers an area of approximately 460 hectares."

"Before unveiling a plaque to mark the occasion, Mr Dutton said USC Moreton Bay would forever change the educational, employment and earning potential of one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

“It’s great to be here celebrating the opening of a world-class university right in the heart of our region,” Mr Dutton said. “For the first time young people will have the opportunity to undertake tertiary study in our region with world-leading facilities.

“In fact, there’s $15 million of tech built into this precinct, including a thermodynamics laboratory, nursing simulation rooms, robotics facilities, and even a large ‘superlab’ for chemical experiments.”

Mr Dutton said he was looking forward to seeing how local businesses respond to the University’s arrival in the way they innovate, expand and create new opportunities."

I sense Sash is heavily invested in Kallangur, trying to put others off.
This area is set to host 10,000 new students by 2030.
    Key word, NEW.
    Everyone else just a bonus.
