New article, Kallangur gets a positive mention:

"Phil Tarrant: Moreton Bay way, so the train line that goes up through Kallangur and all that sort of stuff and you've got the new big university precinct heading up there. What do you reckon of that place up there? All those good infrastructure, it's good reason for the big university coming in there. There's going to be a lot of job growth. Is that pretty reasonable up there? Is it worth looking at?"

"Following the purchase of his place of residence, Mr Whitlock and his team went up to Queensland in November 2016 and bought an investment property in Mango Hill. Months later, in February, he explored Kallangur and bought his next investment there — keeping in mind his long-term goal.

The investor explained: “Obviously, that’s a suburb that has potential with some of the infrastructure that’s taking place there. You’re probably looking at a three- to five-year cycle there, but I’ve got a goal of a 10-year view.

“I’m not looking to make money in two years, three years, or even in four or five years. This is really about a 10-year view, so on that basis, that represents a good investment prospect for that time frame.”"

Top 5 Best Suburbs to Buy in Brisbane’s Outer North

    "Best Suburb #4 : Kallangur

    1. My fourth pick for great places to invest in Brisbane’s outer north would definitely be Kallangur! Kallangur’s just 26km north of the Brisbane CBD and has great access to the freeway. Whether you’re travelling south to the city and airport, or north to the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast, savvy buyers can still pick up homes for $350,000. Kallangur is just 5mins drive from Westfield North Lakes, plus you’ll also find IKEA, Costco and the North Lakes Golf Club are all just a stone’s throw away. Being an older suburb, many of the blocks in Kallangur are 607sqm+.

With Kallangur having such close proximity to the upcoming University of the Sunshine Coast (Petrie campus), we’re finding many investors are looking to buy here now, whilst it’s still affordable. The USC Petrie campus is due to open in 2020. The new campus will offer a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and projected numbers are set to grow to 10,000 students in its first decade. All of these students, plus the teachers, professors and administrative staff will all need accommodation close to the university. Given that Kallangur is just 5mins drive from Petrie, I’d recommend crunching the numbers to invest in this great area now."

"Right Property Group director, Victor Kumar, said the area in and around 60 minutes north of the Brisbane CBD is currently “primed” for growth.

He said there are three main infrastructure drivers influencing the region.

The first is the university in Petrie.

“This is the old paper mill site. The government has taken over a large tract of land, and they are building the largest university in Queensland there.

"And linked to that which is about 30 minutes away is the Caboolture Base Hospital, which they are turning into a teaching hospital.”

Mr Kumar says the third is a further 400 acres of land near to the Petrie university that the government has declared as a priority development area.

“It’s going to have the same impact as Badgerys Creek. They’ve got the town center in the middle and houses all around it, it was the first of its kind. That is what they are trying to do there.”

Yeah. The fact that half of the land floods wouldn’t stop the “potential”.

Yes, it's prone to flooding, absolutely. But depending on how you want to subdivide and build on it, there is incredible potential once the Uni is up and running. With over 6000m2 and the right property design, this is a property developers dream, but it's not for the average purchaser.

OK, havent read full of it yet, but Simon does not look very upbeat about Brisbane. From his comments, he seems to beinvesting more in Hobart than Brissie???

I have been buying a lot of I/p1s for my cleints in Kallangur and other select northern suburbs and they have all performed very well both in recent growth and securing great tenants- so in my opinion no need to go overseas to find a good I/P they are still here in my backyard

"The Moreton Bay region, offers affordable housing as well as good rail and road links to Brisbane to the south and the SunshineSunshine, NSWSunshine, VIC Coast (and beyond) to the north. Currently this market is the most active in the Brisbane metropolitan area and likely to deliver good price growth in the near future. A new university campus will bring new economic activity and demand for real estate."

The Labor leader announced $50m for a ‘super laboratory’ at USC and $70m for extra university places."

So many promising developments to the MB region. There are a lot of townhouses in the Kallangur area, would a townhouse close to the train station in Kallangur be worth buying just as an IP?
