    Any tips?

I've changed the setting to remove the "enhanced" - I've slowed the pace - run the virus scanner through - but still finding my on screen pointer jumps slightly to the side/top/bottom when I've placed it over what I want to click on ... which means I often end up clicking on something I don't want (like closing a document before I've saved it).

It's a new computer - Lenovo - yeah, I know, cheapish (still cost around $2,000) but I only use it for basic internet and documents

    Very annoying

Are you using an optical mouse? Sometimes the laser get dirty or malfunctions.

IT guy response: Have you tried restarting your computer.

You may try the steps below and check if the issue gets fixed.

    1. Click 'Start' > Click 'Devices and Printers'.
    2. You should see your mouse.
    3. Right-click your mouse and select 'Mouse Settings'.
    4. Here you can change the settings as you wish.

Also try to reduce hardware acceleation of the mouse. For this go to "Control Panel" click mouse in control panel item, now will see speed reduce the acceleration by moving it.

If the above provided steps doesn’t resolve the issue then uninstall and reinstall the mouse drivers on your computer, to do that follow the steps below.

    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    2. Double-click System.

    3. Click the Hardware tab.

    4. Click Device Manager.

    5. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.

    6. Right-click the IntelliMouse device that you want to remove, and then click Uninstall.

When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.

If it's a mouse...check the mat. Sometimes using mats with bright colours or pictures on them affects the optical doodad in the mouse.

Driver as above. Also maybe reduce the sensitivity of the trackpad.

If you have a red trackpoint try pulling the rubber off and making sure there is no debris underneath and move it around a bit so it isn't sticking. Less of an issue if newish.

In the good old days predating the optical mouse, you had to clean the mouse's balls. ...now that just sounds wrong.

Try turning everything off then restarting.
Solves a huge percentage of glitches.

It's new out of the box - but sat, in the box, for around 18 months so expect they won't take it back ... I'll take it down to my local computer guru and ask him to have a look

Periodically my wireless mouse will start to jump around the screen. Changing the batteries tends to fix it.
