Apparently dies from complications after a routine surgery.

Somebody from my era. My 26yo daughter has never heard of him.

    RIP

Loved him - especially when I was a kid and he was in that terrible Australian drama with the great music - trying to think of the name...
It was the aorta. My brother had a friend when he was about 20 whose whole family died from the aorta mucking up - including the friend. Such a pity.

    ... Gold Rush, I think ...

Devastated ... and it was Against the Wind ... loved the show as a hormonal pre-teen. The song - Six Ribbons - still brings tears to my eyes

I grew up listening and watching Jon English. I last saw him live in Jesus Christ. It still ranks as one of my all time favourites.

I was just checking out some of his old songs on youtube and it was nice to see how many tributes he received.

    RIP.

    RIP.

I immediately thought of Hollywood Seven and started singing it to myself. Great song.

    Yes, you're right.
I must've confused him with young John Waters in Rush.

This one shows why he was so popualr when he was young - though the dubbing is out and it looks like he didn't even try to pretend that it wasn't being dubbed. Typical 70's.

Saw that one from Count Down and realised the dubbing was out so I thought I'd let you post it :D

I was 14 when that was filmed :)

Grew up in Cabramatta. He doesn't even look like a junkie!

:) I read his story on a pole in Fairfield near the police station.

    Yep

Reading between lines, it declared a problem with the aorta, but then problems with the aortic valve. Cardiothoracic surgery of some sort - aortic valve replacement, repair or maybe an ascending aortic root replacement... Don't know for sure.

PS. Don't know who he is.

I wasn't much younger. My brother and I each got a copied cassette of Ripper 76 for Christmas. One of the best albums ever.

I considered posting a thread about this today, wondered if it was the right place, if others felt the same as me or didn't give a shiete...

Jon was more than just a music artist and was part of my childhood.
My biggest memories of Jon are from Hey Hey it's Saturday.
As sad a day as the day we lost Shirl, will be just as sad when Daryl, Red & Wilbur, Molly passes.

Jesus Christ Superstar (with Marcia Hines) is the first concert I remember going to when old enough to not go with my mum & dad (at the then new Sydney Entertainment Center) from memory I was on a 1st date. Looks so old now but it was a HUGE deal back then.

Yes, imo he and Doc Neeson had similar aging probs, mostly cause by excessive partying/drinking
