Fire has all but surrounded Corin Dam, one of Canberra's water sources.

From a water storage capacity its a complete waste of a lot of water, much of it is just fills up low lying areas with no drainage back into the river system , it sits their for a few weeks before it all evaporates or washes straight back into the sea.
To get really good stream flow into the dams you need a good 3 or 4 days of rain to soak into the ground and then followed by more rain shortly after(before the soil dries up again) .
Getting huge rainfall events , then followed by a long dry period actually results in very little water into water storage facilities.

The east coast low hit overnight. Kinda makes one glad to be living inland and tucked in a sheltered gully

From drought & bushfires to torrential rain, flooding and strong winds/cyclones (WA).

Is that classed as a low blow?

So it's going to rain every day in the forecast... (it stops on the 23rd... it being the forecast, not necessarily the rain....)
Not good cause I want to work on a unicycling skill (freemounting the 36" unicycle)

Just find somewhere dry - like a local gym, scout hall, school COLA etc.

Yeah, it's a bit wet out there.

    2020-02-09 09.50.50.jpg

The yard slopes towards the back - that pool of water is around 4" deep or so. The concrete slab where the shed used to be - to the left of the trampoline - sits that high off the ground at that point and the water is close to running across the top of it.

There is a stream of water running down the left - under the plastic tables, comes down the hill out the front of our house, in our front gate, down the footpath along the side of the house and then down into the back yard.

I'm surprised there's not more flooding around Sydney (maybe that will come later?):

At least it seems to be getting inland as well:

    The dams are getting inflows:

... will be interesting to see tomorrow's figures.

Is that North Terrace or South Terrace?

Either way, I can't see any tall units or the shops, the water must be pretty deep to cover them.

My Country - never more apt as at the moment

    I love a sunburnt country,
    A land of sweeping plains,
    Of ragged mountain ranges,
    Of droughts and flooding rains.
    I love her far horizons,
    I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!

Daughter's bday at vaucluse park. 60km winds. Lucky I rented a hall there. Massive trees were flying around. One massive, massive tree was uprooted and fell...10m from our building. The show must go on and was great despite the warzone outside.
