I'd heavily recommend getting a tiler. If your tiles are even a little bit large (ie 450 x 450 and over) then it takes a lot of skill to tile a large area.

I will see how the quote goes.

The tiles are not oversize. The biggest issue will be controlling lippage. We do have a great lippage levelling system that we have used before, which works well.

I would rather focus on getting other things done.

    Congrats!

I just get the builders range from Carpet Call. Don't get one with lines in it as the joins never look good. Get a loop where the cuts and joins can be easily hidden

Have you chosen your floor tiles? I'm probably going to use rigid vinyl planks in an upcoming project and these ones have a very attractive stair profile. Normal flat supply and lay (ie not stairs) is $69 which is very attractive Rigid Plank Flooring | Proline Floors Australia | Proline Floors Australia

    Sounds good! Image below

    I have chosen them... twice!

The is the most recent choice. They are called "white" but are really a lovely grey. I love them.

    Bellazza Builders 60 x 30cm Porcelain Floor Tile - 6 Pack - White

    Nice! :D

Without seeing it, I would like carpet like this. I don't think any rooms are so big that there will be joins but I will check. In case, does this carpet join ok?

Do you have carpet in the hallways upstairs? If so there will probably be a join at each doorway.

The squares don't have direction so it will work better than textured stripes

I imagine the benches and tiles will be trashed. Sigh.

The previous tiles were darker and more durable but the cabinets are a cool grey and the tiles are a warm grey :vomit:

So I had to change them :(

Is there any difference between rigid plank flooring and laminate planks?

I want to use laminate flooring in an upcomming project since its affordable and looks okay but i have 3 concerns with the laminate i had in my house
1)The colour/pattern can scratch off. I noticed the colour wearing away for the planks in the room that connects outdoors. All the sand picked up from outside scratching over 10+ years has caused this.
2)When parts of it get wet (near the bathroom door) or under the kitchen sink then it starts to conpress in (squish) as the water damages it.
3)They lift up near the full length windows as they were not glued down. Other areas stayed in place as they were squished together and forced under the skirting

Can i avoid these problems with rigid plank flooring?

I believe yes. There are probably cheaper options which might not be so good but the warranty on the Proline stuff seems pretty good.
For me, I think it will be a good solution for the wood look I want but the durability and fuss free care of vinyl. I don't want to put in actual wood and although I've used timber tiles before they are expensive.

The one you picked looks great! In a different house I would like to use that too.

Real wood is expenso. I saw an ad the other day bragging that real wood is surprisingly affordable. At $120 per square metre, I would be surprised if I could afford it!

Don't get this style carpet in my opinion, pain in the but to vacuum and the little squares are traps for anything and everything, cotton/threads etc, looks terrible unless vacuumed daily.

Painting is done. Most of the landscaping is done.

Still have to finish the retic & planting, get a quote on tiling and order the carpet and blinds
