That tap is a hose bib and as such used to connect hoses, in Victoria it is normal to use for dishwasher hose connections.

Washing machine has a WM coque (sic) which has a different thread to the mini cistern coque (unless I've coqued that up).

I'm pretty sure I just have something that looks like a washing machine tap. I shall go look in cupboards later tonight

While you are asking the plumber to change the brass tap to a chrome plated brass tap I would assume that you will get him to remove the copper pipes and brass lugged elbow and replace them with chrome plated copper pipes and a chrome plated lugged elbow.

Will you also go with a braided aluminium hose to replace the white plastic one on the dishwasher?

I will check with my plumber what kind to buy before I buy it because I don't want to coque it up! ;)

I have to buy 12 stops anyway, so I may as well make it 13 :)

That would be a balls up not a coque up.

That garden tap is actually a hot water outlet. It seems to me that the handle is going to get hot when hot water is flowing through it, i.e. when the dishwasher is running. Something I have not had a chance to ask my plumber yet is if this type will get a hot handle when the hot water is running

To me that is a lot less ugly than a garden tap in the kitchen.

Are you sure the D?W is connected to the hot, usually connected to the cold tap these days, the dishwasher heats the water?

Why would someone be turning the tap off while the dishwasher is running.

Are you also changing the copper pipe and brass lugged elbow to chrome plated copper and brass to match the tap?

I agree with Turk. Your dishwasher generally only needs cold water and will heat it’s own water.

It's definitely hot. It's in the contract. They would turn off the tap if there is a problem.

That's not really helpful or necessary, is it?

It's definitely hot. Specified in the contract.

If that's the case, the pipe should be lagged/insulated to prevent the loss of heat.

About as helpful as changing an out of sight brass tap to a out of sight chrome plated brass tap.

Look forward to photos of the lagging.:D

Probably. I don't even know if it is hot yet. It's probably not. It seems the trades just ignore the contract, specifications and plans and do whatever they want.

I don't think it's appropriate for a hot tap and I don't have to. I will have it replaced with a more appropriate tap and it really doesn't matter whether you like it or not.
