I predict the price of BTC will reach new heights on Biden inauguration day. Jan 7 (6th in the US) saw it trend strongly upwards - even moreso than the first 6 days of this calendar new year.

Mainstream non-computer nerdy people view crypto as a hedge against fiat currency, the stock market, and to an extend broader public sentiment towards political/financial market's stability. When one of those take a dive, cryptocurrency, lead by BTC being the largest most prominent one, will go up. Just like sales of firearms in the US during any divisive political event; the sales of toilet paper in Aussie supermarkets during any government mandated lockdowns or restrictions.

It makes no logical sense, but it has shown time and time again to be consistent.

You say 13.7%, others have reported 17 and 20% based on when you arbitrarily select the time period to be to suit your narrative. It's a time of high volatility.

This time last year it was in the $US9k range, so it's more than trippled even inclusive of this "plunge" over just 12 months.

Or restricting it to just 1 month ago, from 11/12 Dec it was at $US18-19k. 180%+ price growth over a month.

IMHO it shouldn't be viewed as an investment vehicle, it's a pump and dump stock. Timing the market; not time in the market. Approach it completely contradictory to traditional investments.

The 13 percent was early this morning ,the way this runs and falls as it sounds and reads like a sci fi movie script, and the movies that make the most then end up in the victim script that people secretly enjoy..

So you've got no skin in the game. You're watching from the sidelines with your bucket of popcorn secretly hoping to witness something catastrophic and memorable happen. Well let me pull up my lawnchair next to you. :p

Just have to wait and see,and you are correct not one cent is invested as one never knows the dangers that might be lurking around the corners in the smoke and mirrors game..

I take it you haven't invested in shares either. Twitter down 13%. Tesla down 8%. In fact with so much risk around, why bother leaving the house?
