Seem to be a "rinse repeat" for a USA President that is losing in the polls or needs to feel more "macho" ... let's start a war ... a la Bush, Bush the Second, Trump ... with the latest one showing signs of busting to pick a fight since the campaign trail

    Bit of a worry

That's good. Keep his warships away from China, please.

Two days after a 90 minute chat with Putin - and in response to some "supposed" violations of non-existent sanctions - interesting timing

I don't see Iran as a legitimate threat to world peace. But maybe Trump knows better.

It's not ... trump is deflecting due to Mueller report going badly for him, and who knows what he and Putin agreed on, two days ago

Disclosure ... step daughters partner is deployed in Iraq so I have a vested interested in that part of the world

So if the US don't want a war with Iran why is the US picking a fight with Iran?

Is it because best buddies Israel asked them to? Is it because Trump is trying anything to deflect from his mess at home? Is it because he wants to appease his buddies in the military manufacturing business? Is it to push up oil prices to pander to the US oil manufacturers? Why?

Agreed - the average American couldn't care less about Iran

Pretty much it. And add to that, Europe is very angry about the US departing from the Iran Nuclear deal and don't want any escalations in the region as it will be a threat to Europe.

Any escalation will light up the middle East and a war will definitely break out with Israel.

It is Trump after all so who knows what tomorrow brings.

Trump is the most hands-off president in some time. Doubt there is war on the horizon.

    Hands off what?

He has his hands all over his phone - stirring up trouble everywhere with twitter. His hands are all over the mess of the China Trade Deal. The move to the gulf by US warships and planes was not Congress approved (no checks and balances) so who, asides from the president, ordered it as he is the only one with authority to do so without approval?

Sure, he's a Twitter troll and is busy ruining things with tariffs.

However, if you take your title regarding war, so far, Trump is the most non interventionist president for some time. All previous presidents were deeply involved in war. Obama ordered more drone strikes than any other president in history.

This is not to be taken as an endorsement of Trump.

Probably because he's to lazy to understand what is actually happening in the world ... but many of his tweets sends those in the Pentagon scrambling for clarification, such as the ISIS declaration

Maybe every time he tweets something bizarre, shares in his companies go up. Not his main companies, but the hidden ones that short stuff.

Iraq and Syria went so badly, exacerbated by the release of funds into Iran by the P5+1, that Iran has gained significant strategic influence in the ME. Likely not to the liking of the Saudis. Don’t be fooled - no one likes Shia resurgence less than the Saudi’s. Israel’s happy to be left alone, but the Saudi’s are interventionists and want prestige in the ME.

A hard stance against Iran demonstrated by public actions could very well be what is required to secure future business including Defence systems to SA. Don’t forget the almost $500 billion sales deal made with SA by Trump in 2017. It likely came with a bunch of commitments.

I wouldn’t rush blaming Putin for it. Iran is one of his best allies. It’s not in his interest for this to happen. If anything Saudis would be over the moon.

And the Saudis are strongly suspected of being a main financial backer for Trump and Kushner - which may be a reason Trump doesn't want his tax returns released

    Iran, Iraq, (Venezuelan),...etc

All about their oil. With the election time, I think the world expect the President of the US will put more pressure on Iran.
