Righhhht. All kids thesedays have an amazing quality of life because yours do?

So because your family couldn’t afford to travel in the 80’s that means that was the way it was for everyone? I was a kid in the 80’s and we travelled overseas? Your arguments make zero sense.

I must be stuck in the past as my view of Syd prices is influence by the recent boom. I can't say for one second that Sydney is good value when prices have effectively doubled in 5 years. Its mental gymnastics to justify these prices.

Have to accept it, no choice. And this whole royal commission charade is a farce. Waste tax payers dollars and won't change a dam thing.

While well located houses are out of the reach of most FHB Sydneysiders, if they have a double income they can generally still afford to buy a well located apartment (or house at the outer fringe.)

And so they should be imho. Wish I could afford a well located house when I bought my first place.

    Not because my kids do.
Because Australians median wealth has grown so much since the 1980s.

Of course when the 70% crash arrives, one is lucky to have enough to pay rent, let alone buy. Look at Perth recently, the metropolitan area dropped maybe 10-20% max, people are already screaming and said doomsday has arrived. So, buy property has never been easy. At least now you have 25-30 years to pay off your mortgage. In the 60s, lucky to get 10. I think everyone wants free lunch. Nice isn’t it, if you can get it!

Yup but unfortunately there is no such thing as a free lunch . In some way or another we will eventually pay for our decisions . If we made good decisions then we pay alot less than those who make poor decisions. But we all pay in some way or another .

It's all comes back to the timeless wisdom of sewing and reaping . You will only reap after you sew. And even then there's no guarantee . But what's guaranteed is there will never be any reaping unless sewing has taken place first.
