I have been following a lot of the motivational youtube videos and many of them, ( the older ones mainly and American) always bring God and Religion into it.

I found a good motivational speaker called Steve Pavlina who is a property developer and he is exactly opposite.
Get rid of the religious ideas out of your life. You dont need to follow someones rules.
To follow in some cases a "organisations" rules , praying 5 times a day etc.

I admit im an athiest but do you maybe as a family go to Church every Sunday because you think its the right way to live and part of being successful?

Personally i dont believe theres a man up there I can talk to.
I dont believe i "should do this" and " shouldnt do that"
I want to be able to think for myself.

I think years ago going to Church as a family was part of being successful in life.

I always remember back in the 70's the family up the road the Hartimans with the nice garden and nice car went to church every Sunday dressed in their best, the father was a Real Estate Salesman.
That was part of family life then.

Then again being part of a Saturday or Sunday Church could promote Networking as such, maybe just as the family i gave an example as above.

Why would you listen to God for money? The church always seems to be short of money!

I agree with quite a lot in the above article.

Note: I am not religious and I am not financially successful. Does that prove anything? No.

I read a book many years ago when I was doing Management studies. It was all about the various world's religions. It had chapters on many different belief systems, some of which the public doesn't recognise as "religions". eg Feminism, Communism, Humanism, Amway and similar cults, Freemasonry, Atheism......

What really made me PML was when the Wesleyan Methodists called the Boy Scout Movement a religion.

It's great if you profess to be the messiah and people worship you.

    Great way to make cash!

    Religion rocks!

Now if you want to send me a donation so I can bring you luck, I'd be more than happy to oblige.....

I wouldn't be too hard on religion. I do a fair bit of praying myself actually. I pray for more money lol.

For some people religion is a motivating factor to generate great wealth. To be something bigger than your immediate desires.

    Other people have other motivators.

Yup the church is a key factor in whether someone becomes successful or not. Look at countries with low Christian population, not a successful soul in sight

I believe in Santa. He watches over whether I've been bad or good. And if I quietly ask him for things he sometimes provides.

Probably because they would be ridiculed mercilessly as is fairly evident from the above.
There are poor and rich people in all religions and non-religions - it's not a defining thing because within each belief system there are a whole range of individual beliefs that come into play.

I really hate it when people try to evangelise and promote their religion onto you. I also really hate it when people claiming to be atheists ridicule those who are religious, people who don't understand why others would have some sort of faith structure usually have no understanding of the benefits that faith structure can bring.

Practice a religion or don't, do what works for you. It's nobody else's business and it's nobody else's place to judge anyone for their beliefs or faith.

I know a number of well known people on this forum are extremely successful and are quite religious. I know others who are successful and aren't religious. I know people in either camp who I wouldn't define as financially successful but lead happy and good lives. I don't think there's any link either way, just what works for each person.

What really counts at the end of the day is how we act and how we treat others. Frankly nobody has any right to make any sort of judgement on others for their faith or their choice otherwise.

It is for me. My religion is linked to my identity.

I thank the lord every day for everything I am able to receive and achieve, and also remind myself that when I give charity it is not my money I am giving so I try to give more with that in mind. Even when I knock my toe and it's painful I usually immediately give thanks to the lord that it wasn't a worse injury.

Everyone will have their own belief system which is fine and I don't ridicule others and would hope for the same courtesy.
