You are 100% right. Howver given the amount of entitlement I've seen during this pandemic, I'm not so sure now. I knew entitlement mentality was rife but I was surprised to see the level

You could say that about anything .... education, security, medicine, free speech, democratic voice. But if we promote these things we are better off surely?

The amount of folks around who feel they are entitled to x, y and z is staggering. And its not just relating to property but all areas of life.

I personally, don't know any folks who are really successful in life who also hold many entitlements. Most of them are about personal responsibility and accountability.

Actually Australians do have a right to most of those things.

That statement is almost comical given the comments on this thread.

The only genuine right on that list is free speech.

Perth many areas still represent good value
Focus on areas with good infrastructure, dependent on your budget… try to get into good/sort after school zones.

Wow....people talking about entitlement...so people have not clue?

There will always be people who are less fortunate. I am happy to pay a portion of my taxes to ensure these people are looked after at a minimum standard....but agree this cannot be rorted.

I have made a lot of wealth..but it continues to disappoint me when things like the "word" who feel entitled...there are some there but not most.

I do not want a country like Australia to go down the American path...where poverty..violence and race are so intertwined. Perhaps...when they get a gun put to their face by some desperate person...that might be the turning point for some!

Good value probably depends what on what is important to the individual. Personally I don’t think Australian real estate is good value say compared to Eastern Europe.
Compared to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra one could probably buy a lot of Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and regional places more than 3 hours from a capital city that’s perhaps inland.
What I am noticing in Sydney is that quite a few people right now are painting their roofs and getting ready to flee, particularly in LGA’s that had extreme lockdowns and where people have had their jobs and businesses destroyed. Maybe early next year could be an opportunity for those who want to buy in these areas.

Curious about Eastern Europe. What countries in particular?

I don't know too many people dying to immigrate to Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Republic of Kosovo, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovak Republic or Slovenia.

The overall value in Australian property is intrinsically linked to the value of living in Australia and the demand that comes with that.

    Security and freedom
    Strong social welfare
    Opportunities galore
    Great healthcare
    Quality of life
    Great education
    Tolerant society
    Multicultural
    Peaceful nation.
    Financially stable
    Beautiful geography

As long as Australia retains what makes it very attractive to other nations, real estate in this great nation will keep going up over time.

Yeah well put but it's interesting what this guy is saying about moving where you are treated best and he doesn't rate Australia that high.

I notice Georgia is not on your list but he talks favorably about this small country.

He rated Mexico as one of his top 3 places.

Homicdes in Mexico in 2020, 36,579.
    Vs
homicides in Australia in 2020, 396.

He lost all credibility to me after that.

Is the murder rate the only thing you would look at if you were to invest in another country? Many other things to consider as well.

No, I'm talking about places to live. That guy was talking about the top best 3 places he would choose to live in the world.
