Is an electricity easement an issue?

    If it is rural, electricity running across block is usually a plus.

    Power lines have to run somewhere, on a suburban block, they will be close anyway, depending on which side of road they run & no one blinks.

    The house would be built a fair bit back from the power lines anyway; the lines would certainly be further away than those of a suburban block, so perhaps it’s not an issue. Thanks.

    Really depends what type of powerlines. In the part of Melbourne the OP may be talking about, there are huge metal high-tension towers which look really bad and stand out for kilometres.

    Yeah...if it is the large main distribution lines....they are no use for anyone.....they usually not along residential streets....but can cut through estates etc in nsw.....

    They are the ones the crackle etc in rain or high humidity air....highest voltage, no step downs to street high voltage.

    There are around 2.6m Australians with verges. The rest of us have nature strips.

    Dang autocorrect onthe phone - keeps swapping 'as' to 'SD', 'no' to 'on', 'not' to 'nit' & 'do' to 'so'.

    It should have read..."Have your solicitor explain it. Unless you have no choice, most investors would pass as these properties are less attractive to tenants."

    Big electricity power lines are off putting to buyers. Investors or OOs. For most because of resale rather than their actual concerns.

    Tenants don't have the same concern. I actually believe (particularly in a cool market) power lines can be good. Pay a lot less and receive a little less in rent.

    ill probably get debated on this, but id say there is no such thing as a bad property, only a bad deal. if you like the place and the numbers check out, go back and make it worth your while. a bit of a cheeky discount would not hurt the situation.
