Advance Ipswich Plan shines a light on the future

    15 September 2015

A DRAFT blueprint to inform the future growth of Ipswich - the Advance Ipswich Plan - was announced today by Ipswich City Council. It follows the Our Future Your Say survey conducted earlier this year which was considered the most ambitious community engagement event in the history of the city.

The Advance Ipswich Plan brings together in one document the results of that extensive research, discussion and engagement with the Ipswich community.

City Management and Finance Committee Chairperson Cr Victor Attwood said all residents were encouraged to take time to consider the draft plan which would help shape the future of one of Australia's fastest growing cities.

"This plan is entering its final stage and will be made available for a period of three weeks for a further round of public comment and feedback.

"Everyone who submitted to Stage 1 of the consultation process through Our Future Your Say will be advised the draft plan is available for comment.

"After further feedback is received the draft Advance Ipswich Plan will be updated to included comments from submissions received.

"The plan then goes to council's Ipswich Futures Board to consider final changes before being adopted by Ipswich City Council," Cr Attwood said.

Mayor Paul Pisasale said the development of the Advance Ipswich Plan reflected a new level of maturity in council's approach to long term planning.

"This new plan will help guide sustainable development and help create the kind of Ipswich we want in the future," Cr Pisasale said.

A copy of the draft Advance Ipswich Plan will be available on council's website www.ipswich.qld.gov.aufrom Wednesday 23 September 2015. Residents without the internet can access the plan at Council's Customer Service Centre 143 Brisbane Street, Divisional electorate offices, libraries or phone 3810 6666.

There's so much unused land around Ipswich I'd be concerned about future supply issues.

I was concerned about that too as there is a still a lot of land near Ripley, but what are everyone's thoughts of the suburbs closer to the CBD, suburbs with a 4305 postcode?

Other things to be wary of around Ipswich are:
    • Flooding in certain areas
    • Noise due to being too close to the RAAF airbase
