Investment Savvy Accountant / Tax Agent

Hi everyone,

I current hold a small portfolio of investment properties and my accountant has been great in managing my tax for me as they have been pretty straight forward (buy + hold, input depreciation etc)

However I’m in the process of undertaking a development and have been struggling with advice on planning for tax outcomes (ie: is it an enterprise, or isolated profit making scheme, capital or revenue account, etc etc)

Can anyone suggest an investment savvy accountant / tax agent preferably in Melbourne (or interstate) who I can speak to for some clear advice , to help me structure and plan accordingly.

Hi @SeekingAdvice , there are a few quality tax agents / structuring specialists on here. While not necessarily located in Melbourne you could probably get all the advice you need via phone or webcam. I have personally used @Terry_w for advice on structuring and compliance, without meeting in person and can tell you he knows his stuff, when it comes to advising on the most suitable structures and strategies to minimise tax.

You may find our developer toolkit provides a good run through for the basics so that you can then have informed discussions regarding structure, tax issues and record keeping. We also offer our clients a simple record keeping tool for developmnets that covers things like GST, taxable payments reporting, recording all costs, BAS each quarter (when / if required) etc

I have way too many people approaching me atm, so have had to close the shutters for a while.

Also I am not an accountant or tax agent, but can advise on tax issues as a lawyer (as well as other legal issues)

 

I use Alfa Focus who are in Hawthorn. They are very savvy when it comes to structuring, tax management and asset protection.
