investment in private company?

    hi all,

    sorry if off topic...

    is my SMSF about to buy shares in a private company?
    If i was to own shares to a private company in my own name, can i sell to my SMSF?

    In house assets - 5% rule and other pitfalls to watch out for. Non geared unit trusts can be an option too. Need specialist advice.

    1. Maybe, maybe not. What is the fund investment strategy etc Is there are related party associate etc ?
    2. No. Prohibited s66. Zero exceptions.

    A trustee Director of a SMSF is meant to know the rules and can be penalised if there is a breach. A reminder is contained in the declaratuion you must have signed. Refresher
