Hi property chat people, I've just returned to Australia after almost 20 years overseas - everywhere from Iraq to Thailand to Washington DC and more in between. Very glad to be back in Melbourne - although I grew up in a tiny country town in WA (shout out to Moora!). Am now facing the daunting task of finding a permanent home in inner north/inner west - and will be seeking advice from you experienced folk on the forum as hubby and I could well be embarking on a major reno. We are generally crap at DIY - but we have plenty of experience in war and disaster zones, sleeping on floors, and surviving on ready to eat meals - which should come in handy during a reno. I went through a home renovation six years ago - but most likely this is not applicable to the Australian experience, apart from the fact that it produced more than a few sleepless nights and a lot of grey hair! Thanks in advance for any nuggets of wisdom and looking forward to participating in Property Chat. Ozgirl
Welcome. Take the easy way - live like you are in a warzone, in a caravan parked up by the side of an industrial estate, and buy lots of investment properties instead The Y-man
Cheers, Y-man! My two almost-teenagers may not be so keen on the caravan..but two caravans may work, as long as their comes with a Playstation or Nintendo Switch!
Way too much luxury. We survive on a 500g stras roll and a loaf of bread from woolies during renos The Y-man
Paying too much CGT or tax – Or not enough ? Not all tax advisers are property focussed specialists and DIY errors will always cost you. We know property taxes and will advise and get it right.
