Hi, I am Cathy and I have been investing in property for a few years. At the moment I am renovating my PPOR in Launceston, but intend to head back to Sydney at the end of year as that is where I am from originally. Unfortunately, we sold out of Sydney just as it was beginning to boom and now face the difficult task of trying to get back into the market. We have a one IP in central NSW and another IP in SMSF in Launceston and fortunately all three properties are paid off. I am tossing around the idea of building a duplex, as my brother's marriage has broken down and he has 4 children to raise. Between the three of us, we have a range of skills, carpentery, painting, tiling etc. and thought that building a duplex to lock up and then finishing off ourselves might be the way to put us all on the road to financial freedom. Would love to hear from others who have done anything like this before.
