Hi I am about to Insure my investment property tomorrow and I am wondering if any one has insured with Allianz who my broker recommends, however I am interested in Terri Shear.

    Any thoughts please. Thanks Pete

I guess the question is, what do you want or need from the insurer.

    Any special conditions?

In my view, any insurer is only as good as their claims process.

Coming from someone who has lodged my fair share of claims on behalf of landlords:

    Top tier:
EBM covers pet damage and meth damage and is fairly quick to pay.

TS takes forever and you're just a number. They also use 3rd party assessors which means there's going to be disagreements and misinterpretations.

PIP does their claims lightning fast, ie a couple of hrs from when lodged. Just double check the coverage.

    2nd tier:

Allianz goes ok, have successfully done claims with them. Decent price. Not the specialist policy that you get in the top tier though.

    3rd tier:

If its a bank, good luck.

    4th tier:

If its a supermarket, perhaps look into shares instead of houses.

+1 to this. Read some online reviews as well, as part of your decision making process.

I would not recommend Allianz. Very poor claim process and they keep adding requirement to make process tedious and painful. Staff is rude on phone and do not bother to listen or understand.

    Go with Terry or EBM

Been with EBM forever. Claimed a few times. Very easy process. Definitely recommend!

We're with EBM and every year premium increased at least 6% and we have not made any claims yet
