That would be the obvious choice to follow up I think.

Yes, it looks like we need to ask to access their policy, see what we are covered for and go from there. Thanks for the help and detail in the previous post.

    Dear Rockstar,
I wanted to let you know about my experience.
I broke my leg and dislocated my foot.. falling down 3 steps,
What I didn't realise at the time is that my neighbours 'pretty flowers' which fall each year were laying prettily on the steps.
I had asked them to do something about it ..caused me to loose my grip.
Recently I spoke with someone about this incident.. and I am outside the claim time.
I am still having probs. and lost my job from this.
Had I known that I was probably entitled to claim, life might have been quite different for me,
    I hope this helps!

This is where income protection insurance is useful. Did you get fired because of the effects of the accident? Because that seems like it might be illegal?

Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry to hear of your accident and I hope you now have a better job!
Was the source of the pretty flowers removed after your fall?

Not sure about SA, but very clear here in Qld:
The Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (PDF, 833 KB) (the WHS Act) provides a framework to protect the health, safety and welfare of all workers at work. It also protects the health and safety of all other people who might be affected by the work.

All workers are protected by the WHS Act, including:

    • employees
    • contractors
    • subcontractors
    • outworkers
    • apprentices and trainees
    • work experience students
    • volunteers
    • employers who perform work.

I recently had the pleasure to read the COC for a govt entity, it too covered volunteers (as an extension of their WC policy) .

As your wife was volunteering, she isn't covered by the venue's public liability but the charity's voluntary workers cover.

Medicare and health insurers exclude workers compensation claims.

I have never heard of someone reading it to derive pleasure. Pics?
