I heard a guy save $2.5k on labouring costs by marking and cutting 50 downlight holes himself, is this an easy thing to do?

Could have saved more than that by not having 50 light fittings.

But in answer to the question, the holes are easy to cut - best make sure they are the right size and check what is above before cutting.

Cutting holes are easy. Getting them to line up is the hard part

A quick note that whenever an electrician or anyone else not you have been in your roof, check that they have not move the insulation or anything else over the lights.

Has anyone gone through the process of replacing fluro lights with oyster shell with LED in an apartment with Gyprock ceiling?

My understanding is that LED lights will usually be installed around the corner/edge of the room. But the fluro lights usually have bigger holes and are installed in the middle of the room.

Obviously by upgrading them to LED, new holes needed for the new LEDs and work needed to cover the existing hole for fluro lights which means it may also require repainting of the whole ceiling?

Recently I got an electrician quoted on the LED upgrade, however he would not include work to cover the existing gyprock hole and/or perhaps painting required.

Is there any company that do that all-in-one?
