    Don't wait for success to be handed to you..

    When opportunity knocks, open the door.

    Never quit. If you stumble get back up. What happened yesterday no longer matters today. Today is another day so get back up and work towards your dreams and goals.

    You can't climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pocket.

    In order to succeed, your desire for success should be far greater than your fear of failure.

    If you're not yet wealthy, but want to be some day, never purchase a home that requires a mortgage more than twice your annual income. Thomas J Stanley
    and
    Nothing has a greater impact on your wealth and your consumption than your choices of house and neighborhood.

    Did you know that he died in a car accident on 2nd March? Pity - he was writing another book with his daughter.

    And to be fair, the concept that Your house is a liability, not an asset (Kiyosaki) set me on the right path finally, too.

    If

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son.

    Rudyard Kipling

    Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

    The late great Jim certainly was one the best.

    If you don't come up with your own life plan, chances are you'll fit into some one else's..... and guess what they have planned for you - not much!

    Well, my father's death was something... I hope that I can approach it with the same dignity. We laughed and we cried and we talked and we looked at scrapbooks. At night, my wife would come over with my children and bring slides of trips we'd taken with Dad. And the thing I tell people is that he never once said, 'Gee, I sure had a closet full of fancy clothes,' or, 'You remember that 1987 Plymouth I owned, or that house I owned on Oxford Street?' All he talked about were family, friends and neighbours, and things that we did together. He was never a rich man, but he always... He kept saying, 'David, I'm gonna die a rich man.' And that month I spent with him taught me so much about what really matters in life. We've gone off on this weird tangent of thinking things and bigger and newer stuff and houses and all that is what makes us happy - that's garbage! In the end, those things don't matter a damn. What you remember as having really enriched your lives are people. People and our experiences we share together.
