    That works too.

For me personally, it's not my choice of PPOR or IP.

I love the inner city Sydney and can't see myself living anywhere else.
BUT Terraces are not the dream everyone thinks they are.

    Aspect;
If they are North to the front expect very little light to penetrate the rest of the house.
North to rear is nice, you can open up the back and have a nice large open plan living area. But any bedrooms at the front will be dark.
North to either side - unless it is a corner block you really don't get a lot of light. If it is a really good spot you may get morning in one side and afternoon in the other but more than likely other buildings and/or tress will block a lot of this.

Damp as mentioned before is a major issue.

Dodgy building as mentioned is a major issue

Noisy neighbours - most have adjoined walls so you need to hope for good owner occupier neighbours, without babies and drum kits!

But the pros are you are in a great location, close to everything in a classic old house with loads of charm (in some but not all cases).

If it is for a PPOR and you haven't lived in a terrace before I would recommend renting one before splashing out $1.5m + for a good one.

That said they are a solid investment and will only appreciate in value.

Also Surry Hills is Eastern Suburbs not Inner West.

Yeah, most of the ones I've been in have tended to be a bit stinky.
Not a massive fan of joined walls either.

Actually damp can be treated and managed, and an end terrace with the end facing north is ideal.
Skylights, sub floor vents, etc, etc.! I say go for it.!

Sorry pulling up an old thread... did anybody know there was a proposal long ago to call Surry Hills "Sunny Hills".
    It didn't get changed, obviously...

We already have our Summer Hill.
Was walking in /\ Slurry Hills last night, saw the obligatory person doing something in an alley.

Might be a good tax strategy.
