I see that Betashare is proposing to launch an Indian market ETF. Given the potential for growth there, it's probably something to keep an eye on when it launches. The last 25 years of growth in that market is something else.

Looks like it's not going to be cap weighted ETF but smart beta one

Opportunities for outperformance – the Indian market is substantially less efficient than those in the developed world, providing the opportunity for the ETF’s quality-focused indexing approach to deliver significant outperformance in returns compared to a market capitalisation indexing approach.

Not sure if they are the same but looks like there is another ETF code NDIA:ASX to be soon launched.

I’ll be in! Been looking for Indian market exposure for years as per earlier posts etc.
You get a small amount of exposure through some international etfs but only 10% or so.
In my opinion the best is yet to come from India.

Heard back from ETF Securities. NDIA:ASX is different from the one being launched by Betashares. The Betashares one looks like smart beta ETF while the one from ETF Securities is going to be market cap ETF. Timeframes is between 2-4 weeks.

    Cheers,
    Oracle.

Perhaps. Or it can be that there are better places to invest at any one time.

I have two global share ETFs, that's enough for me at my early stage of investing. And being older, my risk tolerance is lower. I think the points raised in the article are valid.

    Got an email today....

As much as I would like to invest the bias towards simplification in terms of number of securities and focus on low costs means at this time will give it a miss.

    Cheers

I've registered my interest with betashares, I'll be in, I've asked over the years how to get exposure to India in a higher concentration then A global etf etc.
Portfolio allocation will be circa 8%, I'm very bullish on India for the long term

    • Financial Services and Information Technology contribute 52.41% to the overall weight-age.
    • Financial Services – 37.94% and IT – 14.46%
    • There are 5 Pharmaceutical companies. India is amongst the biggest pharmaceutical exporters in the world.
    • Of all things, cigarettes still have a dominant weight-age ~6% in the pie.
    • No modern day e-commerce businesses finds place in the Nifty. Compare this with the U.S. where Facebook, Amazon, e-Bay and Yahoo are all part of the NASDAQ 100.
    • The breakup hardly showcases India as a developing economy. Construction and cement put together contribute 5.54%. Energy and power is at 14.96%
    • 7 out of the 11 financial services companies are private sector banks. Consider the fact that in India, there are 24 listed public sector banks and only 16 listed private sector banks. This is significantly different from how things were a decade back.

I will definitely be getting on this. Looking at 8-10% on this.
Having visited India many times, even living in India as a child, very interested.
Any updates on when it may be released?
Have not heard anything for a while...
    Cheers

Did not realise there was already good options. I will have a look at this one (management fees, liquidity and so on).
    Cheers for the heads up!

Edit: management fee is quite high (0.85). Hopefully Beta is more competitive.

Unlikely. They aren't known for their many low cost funds.
