Purchased a 2018 land rover SUV discovery sports today while watching tv. Very impulsive but I know I'll enjoy it.

Done 15km, showroom demo.. coming from Newcastle on Thursday. Seen pics. Never sat in one. Anyone have one? Pros? Cons?

Is it worth it to pay $1500 for a 5 year service plan??

Pros... nice pickup! I've not been in the disco but presumably a nice place to be if they're anything like the RR sport.
Cons... occasional mechanical quality quirks (but what make doesn't these days) and all of the depreciation.

On the service plan... I don't know how they structure their servicing but I'd imagine the service plan will either cover everything for 5 years or capped price? Be worth asking them what the alternative looks like per service. Also may exclude some parts / items (watch out AMG owners).

    Hi @Morgs

The service plan is 5 years/ 100,000 kilometres.

Email excerpt from the dealer below:

"The plan covers everything excepting tyres, brakes and wiper blades and what it effectively means is other than for fuel and rego and maybe a set of tyres, you will not spend anything more on servicing the vehicle in the next 5 years."

That sounds economical. Depends on how they structure their normal service costs but you'd think each annual service over 5 years would have to cost more than $300 per service even if capped.

Noice - showroom demo's are a great way to get a practically new car for a discount

I've impulsively bought IPs and rescue pets - but not a car

    That's what I was thinking..

It's funny.. I've bought sites unseen 20 times the cost of this car yet I'm more nervous this car will come back with big dings etc.

    Haven't even test driven one:oops:

I bought my car sight unseen. Not impulsive - I was just very particular on what I wanted & I finally found it online in a different state.

Second hand car ... which is riskier than new ... but somebody else already wore the worst of the depreciation. Had only driven previous models.

Happy ending is it’s coming up 1 year & not a single issue.

Yes, button dial. Black badges. Darkest legal tints, privacy rear glass and windows, triple glass roof, my mates kids call it the peado-wagon, little *******s. Very nice place to be, lovely ride. Been happy with mine so far, had it just over a year. It's a 2015 Discovery 4 V6 twin turbo diesel with 8 speed auto. It is surprisingly quick off the mark, it doesn't hang about.

Waited ages for just the right black one with the right black-pack spec. One owner and low K's too, so pretty stoked when I found it.

...most importantly, the dogs fit nicely.

Here's another gratuitous shot of it on a weekend away, it's so black it's almost invisible...

I would say yes, if it is Landrover service. We have a 2.2 diesel and every annual service is $600 minimum!

@KB_ thanks for the feedback. I did go ahead and purchase the package. I thought about the cost vs the risk and the benefits seemed to outweigh.
