San Fran (3 days, 17-20 Aug) - I heard Chinatown is incredible.

Las Vegas (3 days, 20-23 Aug) - Penn and Teller booked.

NYC (10 days, 23-02 Sept) - I used to live there but maybe there are some festivals I don't know about. I was hyped to see Hamilton on Broadway but tickets are $500-$2500 (apparently up to 10k a ticket at its peak...maybe another time). I'll also be inspecting some properties since it's my dream to own something there.

Might make a day trip to Washington (already been). Was thinking about Boston but man it looks boring.

Any other recommendations? (not interested in hiking / nature stuff)

Also anything worth buying that is hard to get here? I find shopping less exciting now since you can buy 99.9% of stuff online.

I really wanted to go to Hawaii but apparently if you want to combine it with routes that Hawaiian airlines doesn't service it will literally double the price. Apparently if you want to do Hawaii you really need to combine it with LA first. Another time perhaps since LA is also on my bucket list, just not as high as San Fran and Vegas.

Been to San Francisco but love Vegas. I see you're not interested in nature. What about the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon? Just looking around the hotels and people watching will fill 3 days no problem.

Grand Canyon...hum you're right I should probably see that. Is it far? I don't want to spend hours driving out there when I've only got 3 days.

Google some tours. They're cheap. Can't remember if we flew or drove.

Alcatraz is a must in San Fran. Just pre-book tickets before hand we made the mistake of not doing it in time and standing in line from 6am to 930am. Not the best way to spend a morning on a holiday.

You can get helicopter tours into the Grand canyon with food provided for about $450US. Was abut twenty minutes from the strip to the helipad.

    Have fun!!!

San Francisco: I went bike riding over the Golden Gate bridge to Saulsalito, go for a walk at Fishermans wharf, see the seals, go see the painted ladies (old painted row of houses, and perhaps visit Haight-Ashbury)
Walk up Lombard street (its really steep!) And enjoy riding trams.

Now you're talking my language. I wonder if I could try out some high caliber sniper rifles. I've always wanted to fire one.

Oooh someone's banging on my front door and I see strange black cars in my driveway.

We stayed in Alexandra (Old Town) which is about 15 minutes from Washington town itself. You can get there by train, and then a shuttle from the train to Old Town itself. It is historic and really beautiful. We were annoyed at first we were staying so far away, but it was an amazing place. Well worth seeing it.

In New York we loved the Frick Gallery. We didn't get onto the old highline but that is worth doing according to friends. Statue of Liberty is worth seeing, and we went into the crown for a few extra dollars, but book beforehand.

Chrysler Building was well worth the visit.

One of my favourite places in SF was the Haas-Lilienthal House. And the Cable Car Museum was great too, and you see the cables that run the cars in action. San Francisco is beautiful.

NY - highline walk is great, Central Park, Statue of Liberty from Statten Island Ferry, wall st, broadway shows.
Vegas - flight over Hoover dam to Grand Canyon (south rim is best - widest, deepest part of canyon), shows, dancing waterfalls etc of casinos on the strip, Fremont st, if time permits a trip to Death Valley is very different.
San Fran - Alcatraz - no need for land tour, just make sure book ahead for the ferry & pick up free tour on island, travel on cable car (stand outside don't sit inside) & walk Lombard st, Golden Gate Bridge & Fisherman's wharf. Also lots of old trams from around the world are pretty cool to travel on around SF.
    Good luck!

In Vegas I would recommend getting the Tix for Tonight VIP pass. Go straight to the front of the line for ridiculously cheap tickets. I can HIGHLY recommend the Cirque du Soliel 'Ka'. It was truly and amazing experience.

Does anyone know whether taxes are higher in New York or California? I have some gaming gadgets to buy that will be available in either city so it's really just down to taxes.
