$1454 has miraculously turned into $1104.

@Dan your cryto losses are much healthier than mine! I'd consider yours a gain in comparison ;)

No, first column is my monthly deposit, total in is the sum of the monthly deposits to date and current value is what it is worth (considerably less).

Hehe its a sad state of affairs when our investment comparison is who lost the least ;)

Thanks, I'm really getting a lot out of it, I said right from the outset, this was never about making money it was about tracking real life data in a volatile market, the Crypto market has certainly performed a play of volatility for us to watch and we are only half way into the experiment :).

How are you purchasing these Dan i.e. what platform

    Are there purchasing costs?

How about holding costs in a wallet or whatever?

I use Coinbase, its limited on the number of cryptos but the purchase process is super easy and their app is good.

    There is a fee it's about 3.8%

If you see the amounts I put in here:

The amounts I put in are $100, $50 and $100 respectively.

Zero holding costs, if anything some coins (e.g. Neo) and/or some exchanges (e.g. Kucoin) actually reward you for holding.

For most coins however there is a small (<1%) fee to transfer from one wallet/exchange to another. Trading fees on exchanges about 0.5-1%.

Another decent drop today. If you believe the 60k by years end then it's a good time to buy now

The fact that anybody still buys it back up as continues to fall, and such huge drops + rises, indicates it is still hugely manipulated.

I made the mistake of buying back in January 2018. Hindsight is wonderful! A crystal ball would have told me to buy whenever Bitcoin drops to $US6500 and sell whenever it peaks at $US10000. That cycle has happened 3 times this year so far.

As of June its changing again. Now it looks to be sinking to $US5000 and may peak at only $8000 come August.

    Or it might not....

Don't beat yourself up over it. Crypto is impossible to predict.

$16k is a small loss, even some people here have 6-figure losses.

One of my friends legitimately lost his whole crypto portfolio on one bad leverage trade... but the ATO will be keen to investigate such loss declarations closely as many people will simply be seeking to detach their crypto holdings from their identity and thus their obligations as a taxable individual.
