Hi Wondering if anyone can share any stories of rent gone wrong. By this I mean renting out a spare room, uncertified electrical work, renting/building a granny flat without proper council approval etc then something terrible goes wrong. A tenant gets hurt, building gets burnt down, tenant gets electrocuted/killed!!! then insurance/authorities get involved and the **** hits the fan. What where the outcomes, punishments, rulings for the home owners? There are a lot of illegal works out there, some go without issue, others I suspect go down in a big way because something bad happens.
