Conversation is not about price but rather the comment made that Zetland didn't have a train station near it.

You said it would be double the price and those examples show that it's not - it's the same price therefore the new apartments you mention are poor value for money. I didn't put the search at exactly one million as someone with that budget can probably spend $1,050,000 or whatever too. There was one in Potts Point about two-thirds down the first page for 950k. One train stop or a 15 minutes walk to the city.

Bondi is different. Where else can you live with some form of train access and be near a beach?

But the rest of Sydney.... you would prefer to be a 5 minute walk to trains if you live in an apartment. We rented in Chatswood west. It might have been a 10 minute walk to station. I was a bit iffy on renting it because of that distance (and you needed to cross Pacific Highway to get to it) but in the end we did. What made it nice were that it had a nice balcony, a nice quiet outlook, 2 bathrooms. But there was little demand for it when we were looking so we rented it at a discount. The landlord was looking to rent out 2 apartments in the block so I think she was just happy to manage to fill one of them.

Why are they cheap? Issues with reputation? Remember it is an apartment though. Add $100k and you can buy in nicer suburbs.

    Yes it is the reputation.

Such a quick ride to the city, so undervalued from that respect.

Lakemba has not been a safe area.
Not a place you walk around at night a few years ago.
No nice things to do. You must travel to places to take family no beaches no nice parks .
    This is my opinion only.

Was very Middle Eastern dominant demographic.

    Might have changed.

It didn’t change a bit in my opinion. If anything, I think it became worse.

Some people need to live a 5 minute walk to the station some people travel hours per day to get to school.

This tells me how spoiled rotten the current mentality is that requires everything at your footsteps.

My neighbor down the street(the expensive side on the water not my end at the top) leaves for school at 6.40am i see him walking home around 6pm.

But he lives with his parents in a waterfront mansion and Im sure He will have the world at his feet. His attitude is incredible when i speak to him.

The Sydney students travelling 'phenomenal distances' to get to school every day

    Aussies have it to well.

Redfern is 3kms from the middle of the city. Lakemba isn't.

Well given the extended definitions of "Inner West" that seem to get used by Real Estate agents, I'd figured that was it...?
