A BBQ alfresco set up on a deck, something maybe similar to below. Budget can't go over 1k. To all the BBQ regulars...what would be your setup within that budget.

    Don’t waste $1,000 on a BBQ :D.

Invest it in a good bottle of Shiraz .

Give me some Alfresco bbqs for less than 1k and maybe I'll give you a dam Shiraz when I'm up there!

Is the BBQ set-up for the place you're doing up 2 doors from @datto?

A half 44 gallon drum on an open fire pit serves multiple purposes.

Ok serious answer: I've done it twice in my properties, both times from Bunnings. First one was cheapie brand $699 inc 4 burner and wok burner. Took forever to assemble but still looked good when for sale. Second was Matador brand which was about $1100 and much better finish, came with sink, easier to put together and would recommend.

Thanks Mel. Did you have a water outlet for the sink or was it collected and thrown away later?

One of them was plumbed in from the start, the other, I actually sold the sinks on gumtree and just put another piece of stone there.

Wow, cant believe this is just $1099! I have been looking at a similar set-up but I gave-up after finding out they all ask for over $3k from memory.
We then bought some individual units (Modular?) but it gets rusty quite quickly. Not sure what to do now...

Depends on how far away the kitchen is?

There are some good prices these days if you search. Re rust well at these prices it's a new one every 18 months. :)

Just buy a decent one to start with, correct grade of stainless steel for external use.

Yes but the question is what's decent. I'm not a BBQ person. Agents in the area say any alfresco bbq will tick the box. I think a similar one to what Mel posted should fit the bill.

The best (outdoor) BBQ that we have purchased was a Weber (we run on natural gas). I recall there was a BBQ thread here a long time ago.

I would suggest something along these lines - linky with the LPG conversion kit. Take it off the stand and build into the joinery.

If you need the stainless, then look at one of these: Linky

I don't think you need the extra costs in plumbing for the sink. The challenge will be to get it to fit into the space and look custom made in something you buy off the shelf.
