Just say a North Korea war happens...I know its unlikely, no need to debate that.

Does anyone have a contingency plan?

Move to Switzerland? Unlock that safe full of gold bullion?

Get the hell out of Darwin and Townsville?

    Has anyone thought this through?

Would be interesting to hear some thoughts typed from your nuclear bunkers.

It's Australia, we're already pretty isolated. The only real risk would be if there was mandatory conscription, so if anything you'd be hiding from the Australian government, not the North Korean one.

If it was to happen, what do you imagine it looks like?

Most people are panicking (thanks news.com.au) as they have no reference points at all.

Say it was to happen, How many nuclear icbms does NK have, how likely is it that the delivery system works and why would they burn up their very limited offensive capital on Oz when certain destruction awaits.

Sleep well and turn off the tv folks.

North Korea has very limited ability to project power beyond a certain point. The few assets they do have they're unlikely to waste in striking Australia. Whilst destroying Darwin would be a major blow to Australia's military ability, the benefit in this to NK is negligible. There's plenty of alternate targets a lot closer with more benefit to NK.

Additionally North Korea's missile and nuclear assets will be amongst the highest priority targets for US strikes. Those the US knows about would be gone within 48 hours. Those that aren't known would only get limited use before being destroyed.

I'd be a bit nervous if I were living in Seoul, Guam, Okinawa, etc. NK has the ability to do a lot of damage there, but ultimately this is more like a deterent threat to war.

Australia is also a country that could become self sustaining fairly easily if necessary. With a relatively small population and a lot of agricultural industry, we can easily feed ourselves. We do have access to local oil and gas (although not as easy as importing it). A serious war would create some inconvenience, but there's no need to start stocking up.

I'm far enough South the be ok.

Plus; why would he go for Aus?

On the imminent war; the current US Admin keeps what they are proposing to do very close to their chest; so no-one will know what they will do until it occurs.

The only hope is that China lean VERY heavily on NoKo and cut off all imports from there to decrease their money supply massively, and this may get Kim to pull his head in.

The general discussion is that the last 3 decades of attempts at diplomacy, sanctions etc have achieved ZERO....the can has been kicked down the road for far too long, and now the word is that Kim is very close to being able to install a nuclear warhead in an I.C.B.M...the can-kicking days have run out it would seem.

Despite the recent 15-0 UN vote for more sever sanctions; no-one is positive that it will have much of an impact on Kim, and that any sort of diplomacy talks and sanctions will result in any improvement or backdown.

My prediction is that the US will conduct a surprise pre-emptive strike on key installations within NoKo - as they did with the attack on the airbase in Syria, and the M.O.A.B bomb.

Kim wouldn't waste his only few operating fire crackers on Australia. A smart (wo)man might. But as you say there are closer, less aggressive targets.

I'm liking the 'Aristocrat Luxury Bunker'.. it comes with a pool, sauna, games room, bowling alley, shooting range (one must be a sharp shooter when emerging back into the zombie apocalypse), green room, and of course 6 x car garage..

General: Yo KJ, let's bomb someone.
Kim Jong Un: Sounds good. Ideas?
    General: What about Australia?
    KJU: Australia?
    General: Yeah. Whaddaya reckon?
KJU: Who or what is Australia? Did you just make up a word?
General: Australia is a country in the South Pacific.
KJU: Never heard of it. If I haven't heard of it, it doesn't exist. Guards; take him away.

Some of y'all are just a teensy weensy bit paranoid. Besides, if something *did* happen, we could eat all the vegans. They're weak, soft and wouldn't be able to put up a fight.

    Also,

Americans, man. The broad in the maroon floral print dress, though? BABE.

Just make sure you're the first to arrive, otherwise you'll find the doors are already locked.

When the apocalypse comes, I'm not going to hide in a hole. Instead I'll be partying with the hordes, dancing on the ashes of the world.
