I'd appreciate it if someone could identify this tree species for me.

Probably a Murraya. Longshot is a Golden Duranta.

If its Murraya then its a sick or very spindly variety and def not Duranta.

Looks Cedar or Ash like in form but not the leaves. leaves are similar to gardenia.
Could be some kind of Ash?

    Im beat sorry.

Leaves almost look a little like some sort of citrus?

I guess why you are asking is that you are worried if it's going to have invasive roots..

My gut feeling is that it's fairly slow growing and not something to be worried about in the short to medium term... but *shrug* I could be wrong...

I think it's a carnivorous plant - it moves around at night looking for prey, so make sure your doors are locked tight.

I think I have one at my front garden. Does it flower and if so what colour?

With a bit of digging I managed to find a photo of them soon after purchase. They are a somewhat root bound and undernourished Evergreen Ash.

I’m going to put them in the ground and hope that within a few years will look more like the tree below. Plan is to then keep them pruned to 2.5m to 3m in height.

Yeah thought some kind of ash but those leaves were a bit different looking. They are a beautiful hardy tree providing generous shade (when healthy).
That one in your pic looks sick, needs some chelated iron and some all round minerals/fert. probably dynamic lifter would be a good one. We had a couple at last property and I pruned the unruly branches out and got them to beautiful thick shady trees in no time.
You'll need a bit of room though they get large.

How large are the ones you have?

Plan is to prune these each year to keep height in 2.5m range.
