There are some spots on the planet where these don't fly.

Agree with this, and also avoid Jetstar because they are always Delayed. I prefer to pay a bit more and use Qantas and Virgin for domestic.

For international we gave up Qantas and have re-discovered Singapore Airlines. What a fantastic airline.

Im the odd one out here, but I LOVE Airasia. Obviously I don't love the comfort and amenities, but I do love that I can fly my family of 4 return to Phuket, with a night in Kl at each end for under $900 for ALL of us! Last year I snuck in a quick week long trip with just hubby and I to Bangkok and Phuket for a mini holiday, and I was going to fly Thai Airlines, until I found for both of us, one way on the flat beds, one way economy with Airasia was going to be half the price of economy with Thai. We ended up going return for $900 for the both of us with the flat beds there and economy return. I do splurge on accomodation though so slumming it for the flight is how I justify dropping stupid amounts of money on resorts.
I hate Jetstar with a passion due to them always cancelling and changing flights, however I do fly them for Bali simply due to the price point. We are also going Jetstar to Vietnam only because I got cheap tickets.

just so you know.. your more likely to get hit by a lighting that having an accident in the plane. let alone dieing in an plane crash.

i fly with any apart from tiger airways,, delay is one thing.. tiger just plan right cancel flights the night before.. happen to me twice and now i wont get on it for free because its not gonna take off.

the rest are all fine.. flew them too many times and too cheap.. $49 to melbourne.. .

maybe they are better now that they have virgin as part of ownership.. man singapore airlines run them to the ground .

    I have heard this before, I just had to google it to see what it was, it is;
1 in 5000 chance being killed in a car accident on the way to the airport ,
1 in 11million chance of being in a plane crash!.

I flew Garuda about a year ago. Great experience and they do constantly win various awards. I do recall my parents reviews 25 years ago weren't very flattering at all.

I frequently fly Jetstar. Their business class seats are roughly the cost of a Qantas economy and better than a Virgin Premium economy seat. Good value for money and quite comfortable. I did have a 5 hour delay on the Gold Coast last year, but I've had delays with Virgin in the past as well.

The worst airline I've ever flow was El-Al (Israel's national carrier) back in 1998.

It would be 1/5000 for dying in a car accident full stop. Most journeys aren't to the airport though.

Otherwise over 8000 people would have died on the way to Sydney airport in 2016 alone (43M passengers for the year).

True but those probabilities are a bit higher for the likes of Airasia.

I've flown them once - price fantastic, service ok, food great for a low cost airline and very reasonably priced. But have not tempted fate since.

I live on the edge lol. I always tell my hubby a plane crash would be a good way to go- we would all go together and it would be over before we know it!

I flew garuda in 99 or 2000 ish,
it was terrible. i got told they use second hand planes from japan or germany or something like that, it was scary as, the plane was squeaking creaking upon landing, the tvs were rattling too.... I checked my life insurnace after I got off the plane

however the last few years ive heard a lot of people "dont laugh but garuda is pretty damn good now"

Many moons ago they had issues... hired a new CEO who has put a broom through the airline

They are now one of only ten 5 star airlines

They have won worlds best cabin crew for the last 4 years in a row.

They won worlds best business class cabin crew for 2017.

My wife is Indonesian... when we fly to Jakarta or Bali we use either Qantas or Garuda. We fly business class. Qantas is fine. Perfectly good business class product and service. But Garuda's service is exceptional. To be honest we use them 4 times out of 5 ....

Yes, in the last few years.
We also did a comparison between Singapore airline, Japan airline, Qantas on the leg room. Garuda is a lot more spacious.
