I flew Virgin & QANTAS on the weekend, why bother with a cheaper carrier?

I see you didnt include JetSTar? We are very mad with our Japan flights with them and thinking what to do in the future.
AirAsia- flew with them many times, once in a higher class (forgot what's it called) and was comfortable. Our last experience wasnt great, but many friends fly with them. I guess it's a matter of understanding their system, esp on ground level.

Agree. I wouldn't fly with those carriers either. Previously flew with Air Asia and it was by far the worst experience I've ever had with an airline.

Singapore airlines is by far my most preferred airline. Everything from the comfort, food and their exceptional cabin crew have always been outstanding.

Fly with Tiger multiple times for local flights, but probably won't do it for international flights.
Will fly with Garuda if the destination is Indonesia.
    Air Asia... maybe not.

Singapore airlines is one of my favorites :)

One of the only ten 5 star airlines on the planet.

Exceptional service..... I have flown with them many times and they are fantastic.

They are the only ones I use.

    Better terminals too.

Waiting in a place with a bunch of people wearing ugg boots and smelling like beer and watching football on a big screen playing in the terminal while sitting on plastic chairs - no no no no no.
This was a Jetstar connecting flight - I had no choice, never again!!!

Would rather a quantas lounge with cafes and shopping.

For the domestic trips I find the cheap airlines really good. They are cheap, clean, generally on time and very good value for money. Parking at the airport is sometimes dearer than the flight.

For international, I have flown Qantas, Singapore, Emirates, Virgin and Air New Zealand. The best has been Singapore. I am tempted to fly to Asia in business class on a cheap airline, it seems good value. Anyone done it?

I sometimes fly melbourne-perth on Qantas and use points for an upgrade to business. Those lay flat seats are good.

I call my friend whose husband is an international pilot and ask him which airlines to avoid. He has his reasons and I listen to him.

Flew with Jetstar around 20 times in the past two months between Melbourne and Sydney and not one issue during all the flights. Nice and professional staff and clean planes. Also customers were just normal people i guess, no grubs or anything like that from my experience. Also they have a very usable online booking process which is always a plus

They have improved from 20 years ago. Back then we have insider joke on how they’re always late.

I've only flown once with Garuda - MEL-CGK was a good experience.

    Much better than Thai airlines.

If you want an "interesting" (not necessarily bad, and personally I think much better than Jetstar international) experience then Vietnam Airlines.

Tiger has been ok the last few trips to BNE - except the return leg last trip had someone's knee in my back the whole trip..... luck of the draw. I was wearing socks with sandals so blended in nicely with the budget crowd in the waiting area.

Do you recall many moons ago the incident where Garunda landed the plane on the wrong tarmac...;). and another where the pilot overshot when landing

BTW, do you need a key when you start a plane?? imagine the pilot losing the key... now I am being totally silly

I trust that they were knee high socks. Short sports socks simply don't cut it.

My sister always flies Jetstar when visiting family in Tasmania.
It is the only direct Brisbane to Launceston flight.
    No problems.
She has used Emirates points on Jetstar from time to time.

I recently had a TigerAir flight from Canberra to Melbourne. It was cancelled 90 minutes before it was due to take off. It was the only flight for the day. I received a refund for the return trip but I had prepaid accommodation and an event.

I've flown Air Asia and had no issues. I had an excellent meal.
