Went to Bunnings, boutght a timer, a few connector bits and 2 soaker hoses. Cost a small fortune.

    Define ‘small fortune’.

$80-90. For those rolling their eyes, I managed to accumulate multiple IPs from being frugal. Old habits die hard.

So, just tried to set it up. The soaking hose :

    1. is too short :( and (my fault) and
    2. on a strong windy day, may turn up the wrong way and spray upwards
Am thinking I'll be better off with a weeper hose. Kerching. Have to go back to Bunnings - damn.

Hmmm a soaker host for pots? You may want to anchor it with something since soaker hose usually goes under mulch.

I still think drippers or tricklers on spikes would be better.

I agree. The weeping hose will work too...all I have to do is ensure the pots are all close together.

Just installed. For those confronted by the same/similar problem, I can't recommend it highly enough.

I use Housesitter’s but one we had was male and he didn’t realise the automatic retic broke and all our plants were dying. The pot plants survived that had a water saver added to it before I left. I’m not sure what it was called but looked like saw dust. Can’t always rely on house sitters. I hope it goes well for you! The next time I went away I made a shade cloth set up just in case for some important pot plants. It worked well, no casualties .
