    Hi,

I am looking at purchasing a house in a housing commission street - one has already sold about $200k less than a couple of streets away and would be a good yielding property. It appears from the look of the street they are selling them off slowly.

It would be a long term hold. Question is - how do I tell for sure they are selling them off as I don’t want to hold long term if it will always be housing commission as I don’t want high tenant turnover.

was the other house purchased via a Tenant House Sales program.
research with Department of Housing (FACS) or whatever they're called these days.
my understanding is they offer sales to tenants in an effort to minimise areas with high public housing concentration

I doubt Local Council will have any idea what the Dept of Housing are proposing with their properties.

as above, i don't believe council's own any property - it's typically State Gov housing and to add another level of complexity, more and more are outsourcing towards "community housing" not for profits.

it's also unlikely they're actually disposing any of these properties.

Check its not part of a Scheme otherwise once housing commission houses are sold to a private owner they are no longer tenanted to housos. So you could move in to the house yourself - as long as you're good at running or fighting. They're usually sold out of a street or area of several other commission houses.
