    I was just over in the old Somersoft archives & came upon this thread:

    This was the first thread that @Lil Skater started, way back in January 2006. Just over 14 years ago now. For those of you that have met @Lil Skater, you will know that she's still quite young. You may wonder how does one so young have so much knowlege? Well, hanging out on the forum for half you life will do that for you. :p

    Wow. It has been half my life now.

    Also thanks for that, because I just reminisced instead of working and found my engagement, wedding and baby thread before James disappeared when Somersoft became PC. Fun times!

    I like visiting Somersoft. Unfortunately I was never a member before it closed down. But it was such a mirror into history. Also seeing how people getting things so right or wrong. Including the gurus.

    That is a long time, 14 years. And certainly, people do change over the years. But do you think some people just remain idiots through the years? lol.

    Proved that we're mere mortals. Indeed nobody knows the future. Therefore, invest when you can, and have faith in the future. The world has always come back, so far. Maybe it will still do so again in the future. Don't lose heart.

    Haha, I think most of us have had 'issues' and 'stuff ups' at some time. But here we are, all still standing. :)

    They have been merely miscalculations, insufficient due diligence, misguided acceptance of risk, timing issues, unforeseen changes in the market or market forces.

    I still remember being 14 and telling people they were stupid... despite of course having no experience :oops:

    I apologise. Adulting is hard sometimes.

    I haven’t seen any posts where you have done this! Must be few and far between. Or well before I got onto Somersoft. You did have a brain well beyond your years. :)
    Well done to @skater and @Bargain Hunter for raising such great kids :) @Lil Skater, you come across as the most trustworthy PM in Melbourne to me. Consistently. Kudos.

    I have learnt so much from other posters here, and I feel it makes me a better person in terms of investing and empathy wise (but this may or may not be visible to you all). It’s really terrific!
