    Hi guys,
I am planning on doing an extension to the side of my existing unit (block of four) in Melbourne.
I have had some initial consultation from a company who specialises in extensions and they have told me that I would firstly need to get plans drawn up and submitted to council for a town planning permit. They have quoted me $15k for this process. Does this seem reasonable?
    Thanks in advance :)

May be worth seeking strata in principal approval first. If they wont approve the concept the $15K may be wasted. Generally speaking, you cant change the unit size as this encroaches on common property and the walls are strata property. You probably dont own that space. Only the strata can usually submit building plans.

How'd you go with this @Boyapete? Am looking to hear from people who've gone through structural changes to their strata unit.
