I spent about 5yrs on sleep deprivation and I'm not sure I should have been even allowed to drive a car yet went to work every day and functioned. It's interesting what the body can put up with when it needs to.

Thanks for sharing MTR. It's not how many times you fall down, but how you pick yourself up again. That is what builds character.

We pass so many people in our everyday lives, but every single person has an amazing story.

Average around 50-60 hours depending if I'm on a weekend or not and depending on where a project is at. The start and end of projects normally mean big hours either at work or things get taken home which I really try to avoid.

I did similar hours while at uni aswell though which was painful doing a 10-12 hour day and then coming home to work on assignments till late and then be back at 6:30-7am to go again. Comparatively these days it's much better.

I really enjoy my job though which helps when the hours jump up

I can relate a lot to you guys about being sleep deprived. Do 49 hours over 4 shifts ( 4 on 4 off roster) and then do 2-3 days of broker support on my days off. So probably 60-70hrs a week?

It definitely gets tiring sometimes but in the end I'm absolutely passionate about transitioning into broking full time so it's all worth while. :)

Would it be inappropriate to say as few as possible?

Noice and well done....that takes Cojones.....glad you posted the story for everyone to learn that anything is possible if one sets their mind to it.

Once you have gone through this sort of adversity....anything else a piece of cake. ;)

I guess...I am lucky...I have not gone through the same ****** you have gone through well done. :D That is what makes successful investors instead of Specufestors.

I attend my place of employment for 45 hours per week but would probably only "work" a maximum of 9 hours per week. The rest of the time I research properties and read Property Chat.

    Wee done, MTR.

Seems you have lived through some of my worse nightmares.

Comforting to hear that you got through it relatively unscathed.

A great advertisement for not having all your eggs in the one basket.

Do you think this experience has changed your risk profile at all ?

    Hi Tonibell
We were very lucky I think:)

Experience and who you network with probably one of the biggest for me. I have learnt from many on this forum and made some great friends.

There are many successful investors on the forum, and as they say "there is more than one way to skin a cat". Have a read of Karina's post on SS, she has one on USA/Atlanta and also Geraldton post, you may find this very interesting, or perhaps you have already read these.

    MTR:)

No just an average PA role bythebay. These days everyone wants to be a typist - what would take me a couple of hours to type takes my boss a whole day if not longer to type. Can't understand the inefficiency but then again I'm not complaining. Not many positions out there where you can get paid for literally doing nothing.

    I work approx 50 hours a week....

I just worked out my hourly rate I pay myself...$24 per hour.;)

My mechanic earns the same or more per week than I do, gets sickies, holidays and so on, goes home and sleeps like a baby.

May as well drive buses.

Yeah, I used to pay myself about $10ph, working 50-70 hours pw.

The difference was that the final payday was good. We had paid off massive bank loans in the time, and although the sale price wasn't too much higher than what we had paid, not much of the sale proceeds went to the bank.

I learnt to do without a lot of things I didn't think I could do without.

My wife's job paid for private school fees for sour daughters. That was a priority for us. We found that most of the teachers in that school cared, in contrast to the government school.

    Whoops. The dangers of smartphones.

That should have read "our", NOT "four".

Oh come on. If you really must use my name in full, please spell it correctly. Geoffrey :)

But my father is about the only person left who calls me Geoffrey.
