I'll let them know. I do know they are very worried they could end up being stuck in Doha, which would be worse than being stuck in Australia.

Q: How has COVID-19 affected you personally?
A: Reduced my grocery spend to approximately $20 this week.

I could get to like this.

I work as a community pharmacist.

For the last 3 weeks we have been hammered by the demand of patients asking for masks, hand sanitizers, toilet paper, paracetamol tabs, salbutamol inhalers, cold&flu tablets, their regular medications + all repeats...

Suppliers are out of stock for these high demand products and it's a struggle to provide the products and services.

Customers verbally abusing us because we're either out of stock or we're too slow or we're too expensive etc

No lunch breaks, no toilet breaks.

The boss is happy $$$. No new staff to cope with the demand as she thinks this is only temporary.

I'm grateful I still have a job. I signed up to help people. But the last 3 weeks have been hell...

Sorry to hear this. No one should be abusing workers, especially healthcare workers people. Hope it's settling down a bit.

Outrageous and shameful behaviour. Totally unnecessary.

Hang in there, you're doing a marvelous job under very difficult circumstances.

Every single point you mentioned above has hit me.
Worst is actually not the above. Worst is the isolation and staying home especially if single. That takes a fair amount of mental strength ..

    :)

Pearl barley, red lentils, yellow and green split peas actually.

Got buckwheat and bread flour on the way too.

If I am going to be out of society for a period may as well improve some skills which I have allowed to deteriorate since life as been overly relaxing in many ways. Despite the awfulness of the situation there are some bright spots if people are prepared to look for them as opposed to sitting moaning how bad it is.

Isn't any written contract with life so the "It Ain't fair" clause doesn't exist and never did.

Hubby bitched about my "prepper" - his words - make do chicken, vege and lentil soup last night. I thought it tasted really good.

Looks like he's cooking dinner tonight

On hold to Qantas for 1 hour, got through to a helpful lady in South Africa! She has rebooked me to Sydney 1 May, option of next day flight to Brisbane which probably won’t happen. Apparently they are confident Dubai will reopen by then.

So qantas are still taking bookings then? I thought their last flight out of the UK left yesterday, and were potentially a no-go until past June.

Under present regulations, you will be in 14 day isolation in the place you arrive in Australia, (Sydney?).

Everyone entering Queensland has to go into 14 days of self isolation, so maybe a double whammy. Don’t make any plans for the first month in Australia!

    Hope you get here.

    I “celebrated” a big-0 birthday last week.

Instead of a planned dinner with my son and his family in Melbourne, we spent the day in our car, travelling towards the NSW-Qld border before it closed (which would have meant a 14 day strict self-isolation).

Maybe this should be in “first world problems”!

    Thank you.
Crossing the Qld border was the best present!
Even found lovely a Chinese Restaurant (takeaway only) in Goondiwindi!
