I am looking at too properties about same price. One is 1.2km away from station on a downward slope 800sqm block

The other one is 500sqm on a upward slope 850m away from station. Internal size are about the same.

I do not mind additional 350m for walking but a little bit worried about future resalabilty.

Just wonder if 1.2 is still considered walking distance or not.

    Thanks

    1.2km is definitely walkable.
Regularly used to do that from the car parking spot to work....

Depends where the property is located.
1.2km in Brisbane in summer would mean arriving at work sticky and sweaty.

This will be an upward slope on the way back from the station.

For me 1.2km would be towards the upper limit

According to Google, it takes 20 minutes to walk 1.2km. Walking distance in a real estate sense for me, is 10 minutes or less.

    Kind regards,

1.2km after driving to the station! No!

I think 10-15 max journey on foot from station to home is fine

Depends. You like walking in the heat of summer or a cold wet winter night? Nah, 1.2 Kays and I'm reaching for the car keys.

That'd be a 10 minute walk but FWIW, 800m used to be the accepted comfortable walking distance from a station.

1.2km is 15 minutes for me.
My house is 1.2km and its fine, but I usually unicycle to the station. Occasionally walk or bike ride. The great thing is i've got "people friendly" low traffic streets to go to and from the station.

But you are an exercise junkie. Plenty of unfit people wouldn't walk for five minutes.

I guess it depends on the topography. A huge hill that one has to traverse in 35-40 degree heat vs a much flatter walk. Before anyone contradicts me, try the outdoor temperature where there is no shade.

It's a tough choice. All that extra land is tempting.

The big thing is that is appealing and reasonably accurate when the sales agent or leading agent says "walking distance to x" ;)
it comes down to a multitude or things.

I've walked 14km from a station one time and safe to say I'll never do it again :) but is possible in drunken desperation

For me it's anything under 1km.
My preference is generally for upward sloping blocks as well or do you mean the road to the station is upwards/downwards?

Sounds like a troubling mismatch, one block is 500sqm and the other is 800sqm -why worry about the walking distance the block size would be the important factor ..imho..

Can you develop either block? I'd choose the one that can be developed if possible.

In inner Brisbane the block size would make a big difference and a competitive advantage over the smaller location..
