Let's say the strata committee approves floorboard installation for a unit. If the neighbours below the approved unit are really bothered by the noise from the floorboard after the installation, can they have the floorboard removed? Would that be done at the expense of the owners corporation?

it depends what kind of floorboards - they normally request acoustic underlay of 5mm and above for floating floorboards.

I'd say laminate flooring with acoustic underlay. Is there a difference between laminate flooring and floating floorboards?

laminate flooring is floating floorboards. there are also timber floating floorboards

the other one is floorboards being glue and nailed to the concrete which really you can't do anything abt.

Thanks. Back to my original question - so how would they deal with the noise issue even if it's a laminate flooring + acoustic underlay installed? Or is it not going to be an issue at all as long as there's an underlay?

It depends on when they were laid and did they abide by the by-laws in place? Take a read of Jimmy Thomson's excellent flatchat website for case studies and options here- it's apparently one of the biggest complaints in strata land.....

If it has been approved by the strata committee then it will be tough to get the decision reversed I reckon.
