    Hi Everyone, I have been researching a local Melb suburb and have been able to read the forum comments about best streets etc... I can even ask friends who live in the area but how do you gain this insight in a suburb in another state?

    Talk to property managers in the area. Do a google street view. Nothing beats driving around the area.

    I'm personally not too fussed as long as the property is well located (close to transport / shops) where there is future potential

    In my view:
    • talk to other investors who have experience in the area;
    • Check price finder for neighboring owners - which should indicate if Department of Housing owns neighboring properties.

    I really love looking for an IP.
    It has become more of a hobby.

    Last time i spoke neighbours, i knocked on doors, i walked up around the suburb .
    I googled the street for news reports.

    I like to knock on doors and ask people, you ll be amazed at how many will stop and chat.

    Got to pound the pavement - you need to go there - and walk it.

    Leave your car there overnight, see if it is still there next morning...... (only kidding)

    what if your 1980s bomb is soooooo out of place amongst the mercedes and ferraris that disgruntled locals have removed it and replaced with a more respectable entry level 3 series?

    1980's?! That's a "classic car" and heading towards antique status :D. Very collectible in those gentrifying suburbs...:rolleyes:
