    The startup.

Now that we have version 0.1 of a product which has so far had an excellent reception, we are taking a pause in development to look ahead.

You're probably better qualified than me.

But we aren't doing the actual development. Our company has done extensive market research to define the problem. Three months the was spent on this before any design was even thought of. We've subsequently spent a lot of time designing, going back to the customer to determine if the design was any good. The actual development was outsourced- but actually to the US for a range of reasons.

So unless your app was in total alignment to what we are already doing we couldn't do anything.

And even if it was we would have to align it to our aims as specified in our business essential plan (bringing the post back on topic).

I agree, I used a business plan template to start with and it was great for identifying the sorts of questions I should be finding answers to. I just thought the level of detail recommended was not really going to add much value for the time it would take. I may be wrong but I know if I get caught up in that much detail, the whole project will stall before it even begins.

I'm thinking of doing something new and all I've done is slap up a website and got a trading name and had a friend pick the website apart a bit. This was late November though and I promptly got sick over Christmas.

I think I'm just going to end up winging it and making lots of phone calls to get clients ... only need a handful of clients. Nobody reads cold call emails.
