    I have some experience in regards to this although not a total burnout but damages. If for example u insured for 400k you would have to justify to the assessor the build to be X amount say u had timber floorboards they won't be putting carpet. So it will always be like for like scenario. They will give u the option to use their panel of builders or repairers or otherwise just payout the cheque to u. Similar to lost of contents. You need to show evidence of receipts, pictures etc to justify u had those items in which they will issue replacements or in irreplaceble cases just pay the cost to u

    I have made a few claims in the past in regards to theft and tenants damaging the property and it all depends on the claims assessor on the day. One would debate if the lock on the door as a safe lock was an advantage to me while the other would just tick everything off.
