I was inspired by a few things - the use of VJ board in queenslanders, my love of all things different and a few Hamptons things where I saw it.

The project is neither of those styles but I knew the look would translate well. I've also used it in the bathrooms :)

Have I mentioned how much fun it is to be a developer and get to try out so many different ideas and styles?

Landscaping has started with the planter boxes starting to be built today

I'm of this opinion as well, good to try new things and see what works :)

Looking good, how big is the total area where you plantar boxes are going?

I must have forgotten to reply to this. The front area is about 7m x 6m but that includes the carport. So it's not big

Final touches are coming along. It's looking really quite finished and by the end of the week we'll have grass and the walls will be rendered.

@Westminster Love that stone island with the subtle design engrained! Works so well with the color pallet behind it. Is that engineered stone?

@Leo2413 yes it's an engineered stone. It's a new colour by Silestone called Charcoal Soapstone. It's actually bluer than I was expecting but it's really nice

One refused DA, SAT appeal, a new DA and more neighbours that hate me than is comfortable and it’s almost finished

Do you think you would have gotten this outcome (SBDs) at the start if that scenario was your first play? Or do you think the council finally caved because they knew you wouldnt give up and they would be processing your DAs until the end of time or until they gave you DA approval?

    Hmmm tough answer.
The first DA was 3 storeys so that was the main thing that had the neighbours all up in arms. In comparison the second DA was two storey and a tad more compliant.
I think overall the Council would have liked this second DA best but perhaps the neighbours would have hated it more as there is 6 vs 4 in the other.
There is still some issues weekly as some tradies park in the laneway causing my neighbours grief even though they have been told time and time again not to park there.
One more week and we should be all out of their hair and they'll have a lovely wider laneway to drive along.

    Photos from today:

    1. LHS brand new beautiful 500ltr street tree that was a DA condition. Almost died at the price. RHS the existing street tree that we moved (it was in middle of new crossovers) hopefully it comes back to life

    2. Artificial turf in. boundary walls rendered and painted

    3. Still some landscaping to go

    4. Found a pop up event for launch of some new apartments down the road and had a sticky beak and game of Jenga

Today was day 1 of the 2 day Perth Open House event and I had I think about 150 people through. I had a volunteer from the project group and he had a clicker and last time I asked it was at 140 and plenty more came after that.
My feet are killing me. I'll be there again tomorrow from 1-5

    Thanks for

It was great! Good to see you again and to see the build. Those townhouses are nice. I really liked the layout and the finishes. The office is good because it makes two living areas really. Also loved the balconies. They really are like another room. In Perth they are going to be useable for most of the year, which is great!

Great to see the development (and you, of course ;)) @Westminster! Love the ‘outside the box’ approach to a corner laneway site.

I forgot to ask, what was the turnkey build cost per unit (if you are happy to disclose)?
