Haha i was referring to a true story not media BS :D
Had to repair a collapsed sewer and an established 3-4m tall advacado tree was in the way. The residents fought it and wanted their tree saved, to be dug up and transplanted! This was in their back yard and needed a crane to lift it out and replant! They were even offered $4k cash as compensation that the crane hire and part of the work would have cost. Plus had an arborist report saying it was unlikely the tree would survive!

Moved the bloody tree and the water authority paid the bill  never followed up how it went just wanted it done

How's the progress going? Apologies if I missed your update in an earlier post.

    It's all on track.
Building license should be issued next week then off to site within 1-2 wks. We don't need to wait for the sewer tunnel to be done as they can start the front 2 units and leave the back free for the tunnel works.

Ha! On track :p. Missed getting to site on the last day of building in 2016 by a whisker so it went to site this year and slab was laid on Monday. This is going to be my first polished concrete floor. To keep the costs down it's grey concrete with small black stones. The inside of the house will be polished, the alfresco will be honed and the carport will be wash aggregate.

Today framing for the ground floor happened

The slab is 36sqm - same as a double garage - teeny tiny. But yes Nathan from Concrete Style does look huge next to it.

This one will go up quick!

@Westminster will you also be turfing that dead grass on the council verge?

Record time for frames up after slab!

We have to move the street tree to one side and add another, then 2 crossovers down the middle. I'll landscape the verge but probably not with turf

Do they just let you replace it with whatever you like over there? Recently had to replace dead verge with turf and was part of the finals for council assets to tick off. Very temperamental they are here..

It's a Council - what makes you think I have a choice in anything?!?!? :p Technically I have agreed to replace the one tree with 2 x 500ltr Chinese Tallows which is the tree for this street. I'm wondering if I can move the tree to be one of those but it probably won't like being moved.

There are some alternatives for verge treatments other than grass in this Council so there is some hope on that issue. It needs to be water permeable so mulch, ground covers, natives are ok. Pebbles are sometimes allowed but they don't like them going on the footpath and causing trip/fall hazards so it's not a good option

Yeah you can say that again..! I've replaced the saying Beg, Borrow and Steal to Beg, Bow and Kneel when it comes to council! There was one corner about 4cm of the pavement chipped...and I spent 10 minutes begging the Assets Officer on inspection to just let me redo the tiny area and not have to rip up the whole section to do again! All in all they have been a great council to work with :)

@MTR Jack Marks park now has a really cool dog toy box full of balls, squeaky toys and tug-o-wars for the dogs to play with in the park. Our dog had a great time there.

Day 4 since slab was poured and the roof framing began. The upper storey isn't finished yet as there is the balcony area to build which will happen tomorrow.

It does feel quite tiny but it's 4.5m x 8m which can fit a lot
    - inline kitchen
    - stairs
    - powder room
    - laundry
    - meals area
    - living area

To me, spaces always feel small until they are more resolved.
